Colin Roberts - Chair
Colin Roberts has over 30 years experience in sustainable economic development, regeneration & community self-help. Colin was Chief Executive of London Waste Action from 1997 until its closure in 2009 and was instrumental in the founding of London Remade. He has held numerous positions in the public sector including CEO of the London Borough of Greenwich and Chair of a public-private partnership building medical centres for the NHS. He has worked overseas advising the UN and the Council of Europe on recovery of public services after conflict. He worked in community development in central London, helped establish a law centre and trained in it to be a lawyer, subsequently practising there and elsewhere in a wide range of law. He was Chair of a Community Foundation for South London for four years.
Doug Benjafield
Doug Benjafield has been a director of London Remade since its inception. He was Chair of London Waste Action and Vice-Chair of the London Recycling Fund. He is trustee of a number of environmental bodies which are also registered charities. Doug has over 30 years' experience in the waste management and recycling industry in the UK and Europe and was a director of Cleanaway Ltd. from 1980 where his responsibilities included business development and recycling operations.
Andy Bond
Andy Bond has over 25 years experience in the field of sustainable waste management. Now as Development Director at May Gurney Environmental Services and previously as MD of ECT Recycling CIC, Andy has been responsible for widespread innovation in the development of waste systems for recyclling, food waste and residual waste collections which have become part of the mainstream provision of high performing low cost service designs for local authorities across the UK. In addition to membership of the London Remade Board, Andy currently Chairs London Re-use Ltd a subsiduary of the London Community Recycling Network (LCRN) and is a director of Bryson Recycling in Northern Ireland. Andy is also a corporate member of the CIWM
Sylvie Pierce
Sylvie Pierce is a Director of Earth Regeneration, a specialist property company, working in partnership with the public sector. She was formerly founder and chief executive of Building Better Health, an award winnning development company, working with the NHS, where she won Client and Design Champion of the year. Prior to becoming a property developer, she had a career in local government, and was Chief Executive in two Councils, Reading and Tower Hamlets. She is also Chair of Governors at Mossbourne Community Academy in Hackney, a regeneration adviser for Bath, a world heritage site, and on the Board of London Thames Gateway Development Corporation.
Kevin Whittle
Kevin Whittle is Policy Director for the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation established by the Government to lead the Regeneration of the East London area of the Thames Gateway. Previous roles include Head of Regeneration for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and advisor to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Nigel Mattravers
Nigel Mattravers, Director, Grant Thornton Government and Infrastructure Advisory. Nigel has a vast amount of UK and international experience advising on waste and environment related projects. He has specialized in planning and feasibility studies, design, project management and direction of many major waste management projects. Nigel has over 36 years experience, including 25 years as a consultant. During his residency in Hong Kong, he became an expert advisor on the development of Hong Kong's waste management infrastructure. Nigel has advised on various aspects of recycling and recovery of waste in the UK, specifically private finance initiative integrated waste management projects. In particular, he led the team responsible for the 25 year East London Waste Authority integrated waste contract. Nigel is the immediate Past Chairman of the Institution of Civil Engineers Waste and Resources Management Board.
