Green procurement
Green procurement is the selection of products and services that minimise environmental impact. As a business and a consumer, you can choose to buy sustainably and you can choose to buy recycled.
Sustainable development involves a more efficient use of resources and materials. We cannot keep disposing of our waste thoughtlessly. It's time to discover a fantastic range of high-quality, cost competitive recycled products that are now available.
Marketing benefits
You could take advantage of the high interest in environmental issues by demonstrating your commitment to green procurement in your marketing communications activities. Think about communicating your environmental message in all your marketing activities, when talking about your products, services, and the way you operate your business. It could give you the edge over your competitors.
You can find out more about implementing green procurement through the Mayor of London's Green Procurement Code.
Mayor of London's Green Procurement Code
The Mayor of London's Green Procurement Code is a free support service for London based organisations committed to reducing their impact through responsible purchasing. The programme provides practical advice and online resources to help embed green purchasing into all aspects of an organisation, including sourcing green products.
The combined purchasing power of London based organisations has huge potential to positively tackle the capital‘s waste problem, reduce carbon emissions and contribute to the Mayor’s Climate Change Action Plan.
London's businesses, as major consumers of products and producers of waste, can sign-up to the Green Procurement Code to commit to reducing the effects of their activities on the environment.
The programme is supported by £3 million from the London Development Agency and delivered by London Remade.
