Commercial waste management
London is a global centre for international business. The service sector is dominant, followed by finance and business services, then the creative and cultural industries, such as film, music, architecture, fashion and art/antiques.
The different industries produce different types of waste. The service sector will produce large volumes of cardboard, glass and cans, whereas the finance and business services will produce vast quantities of paper.
Businesses are responsible for arranging the collection and disposal of their own waste. Most do so through private waste management contractors.
Most local authorities do collect business waste and some offer a limited recycling service. See www.capitalwastefacts.com
If you are interested in setting up your own waste management company see our business support programme.
